JOHN PATRICK "Pat" FOLEY

We are sorry to report the death on 10/21/08 of Retired Agent John Patrick "Pat" Foley in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania (PA).  Pat's daughter, Janice Foley, advised us of his passing today, 10/23/08.  Pat Foley was 90.

For information, Pat served as an Agent with the FBI from 1948 until his retirement from the Newark Office in 1974.  His first office was Albany and he was assigned in the New York Office from approximately 1949 until 1964.  Pat served in Newark from about 1964 until retiring from the FBI in 1974.

Janice advised that a Memorial Service will be held for Pat in Chambersburg, PA on Friday but also advised that she expects to hold a Memorial Service in New Jersey at some time in the foreseeable future as well.  She lives in Belle Mead and works in Trenton.

Janice requested that, in lieu of flowers, anyone interested could make a contribution in Pat's name to a favorite charity, to the Agents Memorial Scholarship Fund, to the Society's Funds, to any wildlife or nature conservation organization, or to any number of other worthy organizations such as the DAV.

Newark SSA Mark Byrnes advised today (10/15/08) of a special request to recruit some Retired Agents to work on a Title III/ Electronic Surveillance operation for the Newark Office of the FBI beginning on or about 11/9/08.

The work location will be somewhere in Essex County and there will be two shifts per day (some sort of day shift and night shift), Mondays through Fridays.

Interested Retired Agents could work a maximum of 40 hours per week but could also request less hours than 40 hours in a given week.  Depending upon the response, the Bureau will need approximately 8 Retirees to staff the operation unless they find 4 people interested in working the 40 hours per week.

Having an Organized Crime investigative background is a plus but not a mandatory requirement.

Each interested Retiree would be required to sign a Personal Services Contract and the pay for the project is $35.00 per hour.

If interested, or to request additional information, please contact SA Natalie Bara, FBI Newark, 973-792-7884 (office) or 973-725-9811 (cell) as soon as possible!!!!
